Women Wear Lingerie For Comfort And Fashion, Fulfilling One Of Their Most Basic Needs
Lingerie |
Essentially, the terms lingerie and intimate clothing—or
intimates, as they are referred to—appear to be interchangeable. Lingerie is the collective term for women's
underwear. Intimates and intimate garments are other names for them.
Undergarments are articles of clothing that are worn underneath outer clothing,
typically in close proximity to the skin, however they can include more than
one layer. Although there are some garments that cover both the waist and the
legs as well, most undergarments fall into one of two categories: those worn to
cover the torso. Both men and women typically wear a variety of undergarments.
Males frequently wear briefs, boxer briefs, or boxer shorts,
whereas women frequently wear bras and panties (sometimes known as knickers in
the UK). T-shirts, sleeveless tops (also known as singlets or tank tops),
bikini bottoms, boyshorts, thongs, and G-strings are among the common clothing
items worn by both sexes.
The French term linge, which meaning "linen," is
where the phrase lingerie first appeared. Doing the laundry is referred to as
"faire le linge." It might have been pertinent given that underwear
needs to be washed after each use. It refers to women's nightwear or
undergarments in English. Although I was not alive to verify it, it is thought
that the term " Lingerie "
was first used in English to refer to bras and undergarments in the early
1920s. Young flappers began to enjoy dancing, and the garter belt was created
to prevent stockings from slipping down their legs.
The flapper's greater sexual awareness also made
undergarments sexier than ever. The age of underwear was introduced by the
flappers. The brassiere and current cup sizes for bras were both developed by
the Russian immigrant Ida Rosenthal's company, Maidenform, in 1928.
Undergarments for Lingerie
are frequently made of flexible, stretchy, sheer, or ornamental materials
like Lycra, nylon (nylon tricot), polyester, satin, lace, and other sheer
fabrics. You can also use cotton and other natural or synthetic fibres.
Women have traditionally worn underwear for three main
reasons: modesty, hygienic concerns, or to change their outer shape (initially
with corsets and later with girdles or bras). Modern women use lingerie to feel
good about themselves and project a sexual appearance to others. Underwear
evolved over the 20th century, getting thinner and more form-fitting. Underwear
producers like Frederick's of Hollywood start to glamorise Lingerie in the 1960s.
