Endoscopes have become one of the essential imaging techniques to gain a view of internal structures and organs
Endoscopes have developed much more since they were first introduced to the medical profession. With the recent advances in technology, these instruments have become smaller and lightweight, while still being able to provide clear images of the throat and mouth for doctors. The primary types of endoscopes that doctors use are the 3-mm endoscope rod-mounted endoscopes and the 5-mm endoscopes. These two instruments can be used to provide a variety of different treatments for both the acute and chronic stages of illness. As per the American Society of Cancer, around 131,880 people die in the U.S. due to lung cancer.
The simplest of the many types of Endoscopes are handheld or oral endoscopes. They are used for a variety of different applications, including diagnosing stomach and colorectal cancer, as well as for the detection of many other medical conditions. These instruments are commonly used in doctor's offices, ambulatory clinics, and operating rooms. The most common handheld endoscopes are the 3-mm rod-mounted endoscopes and the 5-mm endoscopes.
Endoscopes are also commonly used in the field of x-ray technology. An x-ray is a type of visual display that is designed to show pictures of internal organs and tissues under very small magnifications. In order to obtain clear x-ray images, endoscopes must be properly adjusted so that the patient does not feel any discomfort when viewing the x-ray. The most common types of x-ray used in the field are the single-photon x-ray, which is obtained by placing a fluorescent dye in the patient's body, and the hemorrhoidoscope, which uses an x-ray produced from an external source to provide an image of hemorrhoid. Recently, in April 2021, Olympus launched a new line of five single-use bronchoscopes H-SteriScope for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
