In October 2019, Becton, Dickinson and Company, the American multinational medical technology company, launched the BD Intevia 1mL two-step disposable auto-injector. An autoinjector is a portable medical device specifically designed to inject a patient with a controlled dose of insulin or any other drugs. Autoinjectors have replaced the outdated and hazardous syringe-dispensing technique used in earlier treatment methods. Modern autoinjector devices are safe, clean, and effective and can be used for administering various treatments such as immunizations, and pain management.

In September 2019, Waldorf Technik, a subsidiary of the Hahn Group, demonstrated a newly developed automation system that allows molders of disposable syringes to print directly on cylinders using the system’s digital printing processes, at K Trade Fair 2019. Disposable syringes are used in conjunction with hypodermic needles to inject or remove liquids from the body. Medical syringes can be used to administer liquid medicine without the use of a needle.
